A first look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4
A first look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4
The great suspicion is that Samsung will unveil a new member of the Galaxy Z Flip family in August. Through reliable sources, photos have come in of the still unannounced device, with the design looking very similar to its predecessor with some (not insignificant) differences here and there. Time to take a closer look!
It looks like the Flip 4 is going to be Samsung's most affordable device, following in the footsteps of the Flip 3. The designs are pretty similar, although the Galaxy Flip 4 looks a bit flatter with a modified hinge.
Samsung is still applying a two-tone design where the second screen is embedded in a black surface along with a dual camera. The layout otherwise appears fairly unchanged, although the screen does look a bit larger than the Flip 3.
However, the biggest changes will be under the hood. There is also no visible crease on the Flip 4, something that was quite noticeable on its predecessors.
Furthermore, Samsung has done some housekeeping on the battery life, as it will be increased to 3700mAh compared to the 3300mAh. According to sources, this will result in a slightly thicker device, but will allow you to go on the road a bit longer. If tech enthusiast Jon Prosser's tweet is to be believed, Samsung will announce the Flip 4 along with the Fold 4 on August 10.
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is expected to have three versions with different storage sizes: 128GB, 256GB and 512GB while lacking a microSD card slot. With this, the device follows the example of the Z Fold 3. The device will also likely stick to the same number of 8GB of working memory. If SamMobile's assumptions are to be believed, pricing will be as follows:
- 128 GB - € 1099,-
- 256 GB - € 1149,-
- 512 GB - € 1199,-
However, much is still unknown and these are all just assumptions, largely based on the history of ze Z Flip series. The market for foldable devices is on the verge of real maturity, which means prices could drop quickly to help devices like the Galaxy Z Flip 4 (and also the Z Fold 4) really break through to the general public. We shall see!
