Dynamic Island functionality to Android
Android developer Jawomo brings Apple's Dynamic Island functionality to Android
Good news for fans of the Dynamic Island functionality of Apple's iPhone 14 pro devices; it is now coming to Android devices as well! So anyone who was jealous that this was only found on iPhone Pro models need no longer be sad. The tool called dynamicSpot is currently in beta. Read more about what to expect from this in this article!
dynamicSpot
Through the tool found here, people with an Android device can generate a virtual, pill-shaped notch on the screen to be displayed around a selfie camera (if any). This virtual "zone" will in this way occupy a function similar to what the Dynamic Island does on iPhone, giving you a new notification bar on which to see app and system notifications. A short click on this dynamicSpot will open the app in question. Press it longer, and the area expands and shows more details about the notification in question.
Behavior of dynamicSpot can be adjusted though
In the announcement, the developer of dynamicSpot explicitly refers to the features of the Dynamic Island that Apple previously introduced for the iPhone 14 Pro line. However, a major difference is that the behavior of dynamicSpot is customizable! The tool uses Android's notification system, making almost all apps compatible with the tool. The tool will be free and, as mentioned, is currently still in beta.
What is Dynamic Island again?
For anyone who has forgotten or has no idea what Dynamic Island is, we'd like to refresh your memory! The Dynamic Island is an elongated and pill shaped notch in the screen that houses the selfie camera and face ID hardware. Apple introduced this new feature during the announcement of the iPhone 14 devices. You can only find the Dynamic Island on the Pro devices; the regular iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus do not have this feature. The Dynamic Island is deployed as a kind of notification bar and looks very sleek and modern. Aside from notifications, it also displays things like weather, system notifications, incoming phone calls and other notifications. According to analyst Ross Young, all iPhones coming next year will have a screen with Dynamic Island. We are curious to see if this is true!
