It seems that the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE is not going to come out, however, it seems that a 4G version of the S21 FE is coming.
Unfortunately!!! The Samsung Galaxy S22 FE is not coming, but another version is coming
Two years ago, Samsung released its very first Fan Edition device, the Galaxy S20 FE. In 2021, a second line came out, the Galaxy S21 FE. However, the Galaxy S22 FE will never see the light of day.
With the previous FE editions, quite a few rumors emerged well before the announcements. That is different now, there is still no trace of the Galaxy S22 FE. Too bad for fans with a slightly smaller budget; the Fan Editions had almost entirely the same hardware as the Samsung S series, but with a considerably lower price tag.
Why the FE devices won't get a successor is unknown. Perhaps it has to do with the placement of the device in the market. The FE handsets are very similar to the standard but more expensive S handsets. In some areas, then, they clearly cut costs, such as the plastic body and inferior cameras. In other areas, on the contrary, they were much the same or even better. For example, the S21 FE had a larger battery and also a better selfie camera than the normal S21.
Then back to the S21 FE, where we assumed there wouldn't be a 4G version, since 5G networks are becoming more common around the world these days and even mid-range devices have 5G support. But it looks like Samsung wants to surprise us, working on a 4G version of the Galaxy S21 FE. The 5G version has model number SM-G990B, and people at the Galaxy Club have found out that a model number called SM-G990B2 is in the works, complete with separate firmware. The model was recently certified by Bluetooth SIG and has Bluetooth 5.2 on board, while the G990B (S21 FE 5G) only has Bluetooth 5.0.
So it seems that the S21 FE 4G will be powered by the Snapdragon 720G chip, which is mentioned by several online stores (including in the Netherlands).
Furthermore, it is still unclear if there will be other differences in the hardware and how it will fare. In any case, we are curious to see how things will pan out with this new device.
