New Apple event to be 'biggest yet'
Every year, Apple holds the developers' conference WWDC (world wide developers congress), a conference that showcases Apple's latest technology and newest developments. This year, the congress will take place from 5 to 9 June. People expect the presentation of Apple's first smart glasses, the 'Reality One', on the opening day. Read more about this event here!
Mixed Reality glasses
The biggest and most exciting announcement at the conference will most likely be Apple's new mixed reality glasses. This new product will make its debut and is the first new major product since the Apple Watch that came out in 2015. The glasses, which would be called 'Reality One', should offer a combination of VR (virtual reality) and AR (augmented reality). With VR, you see an entirely virtual environment while with AR, you see virtual images over reality, such as in Pokémon GO.
Biggest Apple event ever
This year, the conference will physically take place at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, California. Susan Prescott, the vice president of development at Apple, says WWDC 23 will be the biggest and most exciting event yet. Throughout WWDC, Apple also presents a good number of new features appearing in upcoming software updates, including new versions of iOS, iPADOS, watchOS, macOS and tvOS. As a result, app developers can already start preparing for the upcoming changes. In addition, Apple is also said to be working on a special version of the new iOS 17 with support for third-party app shops. Partly because of this, Apple would also comply with new stricter EU rules.
Info on the Reality One glasses
According to insiders, the first version of the Reality One glasses would still be mainly aimed at app developers and professionals. It would also come with a hefty price tag at launch of as much as $3000. The mixed reality glasses would be controllable with eye and hand controls and also get a built-in app shop. The glasses will also offer a VR version of FaceTime and 3D versions of some of Apple's already existing apps. Multiple cameras would also be built in, allowing images of the environment to be displayed for an AR experience. A (likely physical) dial would allow consumers to switch between virtual reality and augmented reality. Apart from the glasses, Apple might also announce new Macs, including a new MacBook Air with a larger screen and a new Mac Pro with Apple's own chips. We are very curious!
