Samsung announces the new Galaxy A54 and A34
Samsung has unveiled its new mid-range devices: the Samsung Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34. These are the successors to two of last year's most popular Samsung phones, the A53 and A33. The design of the devices resembles that of the Galaxy S23 series with separate camera lenses on the back instead of a camera island. Read more about this announcement soon!
Specifications
Looking at the specifications Samsung has put online, it can be seen that the new devices have shorter screens and a wider body. Instead of 20:9 displays, the screens now have a ratio of 19.5:9. The resolution remains the same at 1080p. Also, the Galaxy A34 now has a 120Hz screen instead of 90Hz, which the A33 still had. Both devices have an OLED screen and the brightness is a lot higher (1000 nits), providing better visibility in sunlight. The Samsung A54 has slightly wider screen bezels than the A53, making it a bit wider overall. The A34 is larger than its predecessor in all dimensions and, at 7.8cm, one of the widest smartphones on the market. The A54 also has a faster chip than the A53, namely the Exynos 1380.
Cameras
There are three cameras on the back of the Galaxy A54: a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilisation, a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and an additional 5-megapixel camera. The camera on the front of the device has 32 megapixels and sits in a hole at the top of the screen. In addition, the A54 has a fingerprint scanner below the screen. The Galaxy A34 also has three cameras that are slightly less advanced with 48, 8 and 5 megapixels, respectively. The A34 also has a 6.6-inch screen and a slightly slower chip than the A54, namely the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chip.
Budget phone A14
Besides these two new cool devices, the previously announced Galaxy A14 is also close to going on sale in the Netherlands. This cheaper device has a 6.6" screen with 90Hz. In addition, the A14 features an Exynos 1330 chip, 5G support and a 13-megapixel selfie camera plus three rear cameras. Samsung will provide the A14 with two Android upgrades and four years of security updates.
